The programme has 4 components:
1. The Tabora orphans and vulnerable children day care centre (HAPO/TLC) in partnership with Tabora League for Children (TLC)
After school, the orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) attend the HAPO/TLC centre Monday through Friday. During Saturdays and holidays, they spend the entire day at the centre. They are provided with 1-2 daily meals and a drink before returning home. In addition, they are given small group tutoring in English, Maths and Science and provided with time for sports and games. The HAPO/TLC centre supplies hygiene materials (soap and family water filters), mosquito nets, mattresses and all necessary school supplies. We have found donors who are sponsoring 39 of the children to attend private boarding and day schools.
2. 40 OVCs in Bukumbi and Shitage Wards in Uyui District
The children receive health checks and all the necessities for school. They are visited twice yearly by HAPO staff.
3. UHAI HIV AIDS programme
Working on testing, conclling and getting treatment for the wider population of Tabora
4. Income generation on HAPO land
